splitting light

  1. "That dogs are dear to the unimaginative peasant-burgher whilst cats appeal to the sensitive poet-aristocrat-philosopher will be clear in a moment when we reflect on the matter of biological association. Practical plebeian folk judge a thing only by its immediate touch, taste, and smell; while more delicate types form their estimates from the linked images and ideas which the object calls up in their minds. Now when dogs and cats are considered, the stolid churl sees only the two animals before him, and bases his favour on their relative capacity to pander to his sloppy, unformed ideas of ethics and friendship and flattering subservience. On the other hand the gentleman and thinker sees each in all its natural affiliations, and cannot fail to notice that in the great symmetries of organic life dogs fall in with slovenly wolves and foxes and jackals and coyotes and dingoes and painted hyaenas, whilst cats walk proudly with the jungle’s lords, and own the haughty lion, the sinuous leopard, the regal tiger, and the shapely panther and jaguar as their kin. Dogs are the hieroglyphs of blind emotion, inferiority, servile attachment, and gregariousness—the attributes of commonplace, stupidly passionate, and intellectually and imaginatively undeveloped men. Cats are the runes of beauty, invincibility, wonder, pride, freedom, coldness, self-sufficiency, and dainty individuality—the qualities of sensitive, enlightened, mentally developed, pagan, cynical, poetic, philosophic, dispassionate, reserved, independent, Nietzschean, unbroken, civilised, master-class men. The dog is a peasant and the cat is a gentleman." - H. P. Lovecraft

DOGS ARE STUPID. CAT > DOG . Cats are naturally enlightened, creative, solitary, and so forth. Their behavior is a manifestation of Infinity unlike mangy stupid mutts which no wonder the average pleb likes...

  2. Hypnagogic... I still see lights when I wake up sometimes, not faces. And I try to catch them because they still kinda scare me or to see if they're real or whatever.

Hypnagogic gives you weird insights too! But I can't write poems. I don't get poems for the most part just because I'm dumb. But some I like! There's just some resistance to them because of... I don't know, I'm not used to them.

I remember seeing this guy at a book store a few years back (before I found your other blog). I was checking out the eastern religion section, looking at zen books. He approached me and asked if I was interested in Zen. He said he was a roshi of so and so. Asked me if I was interested in Zen and I didn't really answer him because by then I was reading about it mainly and not doing zazen when it was supposed to be central to it. I was avoiding it. Questioning the hell outta of it. Why I gotta sit like that though? I didn't ask him that, I asked myself that for a few years. I asked him a few other questions and then we parted ways. Later saw him in the poetry section.

I was a bit leery of him.. maybe I would've checked him out further but I lived outta town, like a 5 hour drive. I was just in for a trip. So that took care of that.

MIGHT'VE BEEN GOOD MIGHT'VE BEEN BAD BUT HERE I AM KINDA GLAD because I got you.

    1. I prefer hua tou meditation personally. Doesn't matter the posture. Andrew does it slumped in a chair with red light, if I remember correctly.

You can stick to the hua tou most of the day.

But in term of asking "who is asking this?" I don't think I really do this, I just watch the thoughts. Which is a thought watching thoughts?!

But yeah porn made me stop this questioning, on and off.. now I'm watching my urges. Like usually I am helpless and give in eventually and now.. I just let it pass by. I think my brain is working better already. My thinking.

I've been through this improvement before but I always went back to the porn! Here's a thread from reddit that explains what happens when you watch porn, masturbate and orgasm. Nutritional loss and stuff.

I don't post there at all just read some threads once in awhile by looking up nofap and by reading posts that andrew links.

      MEANT TO POST HERE

  4. What do you think of this book, Andrew?

"Emily Dickinson, Accidental Buddhist presents clear internal evidence that Dickinson experienced a cosmic awakening. Buddhist tradition provides the framework for a rational presentation of Dickinson's incisive dharma poetry."

  6. Check out this good review of Emily Dickinson:

"Just as a prism breaks up light into a band of colors - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet - and their infinite gradations, so do Emily Dickinson's poems become, as it were, a prism which captures the white light of reality, a reality which as it flows through the prism of her poem explodes into a multiplicity of meanings.

It is the rich suggestiveness of her poems, a suggestiveness which generates an incredible range of meanings, that prevents us from ever being able to say (to continue the metaphor) that a given poem is 'about red' or 'about blue,' because her poems, as US critic Robert Weisbuch has observed, are in fact about _everything_. This is what makes her so unique, and this is why she appeals to every kind of reader (or certainly to open-minded ones) and even to children.
Emily Dickinson's poetry is one of the wonders of the world."
